   My dinner this evening.  French bread, spaghetti and salad-- yummy!  This is my first shot at making French bread and it didn't turn out too bad.  I might try and find a different recipe-- I'd like something a little more fluffy.  The crust turned out really good though.

   It is October 1st, and we're looking forward to the fall colors which have already started showing signs.  Today was an interesting day for shots.  We did a shot bike ride to photograph the sunset.  Then, while driving to get more bread supplies, I noticed a very active sky full of lighting.  I called up Tazz and we went to our spot on Eagle Heights on the far east side of Beloit.  Most of the storm had passed and was both to the north and south of us, heading east.  Rather then go for traditional lighting shots, I tried doing some over exposure to capture both the active skies and the stars above them.  I was quite pleased with the results.  One has to look at a large version of the picture to see what's going on with the star and lightning shots, so for todays picture I just have a close up of some of the lightning.  A great way to start off October!

   Tera is a RAID-5 array, consisting of 6x 250 gigabyte drives (5 drives, one hot spare).  It's formatted usable space is 931 gigabytes.  The drive went on-line September 9th, 2004.  Presently, it contains over 500,000 files spanning almost 20,000 directories that consume 903.18 gigabytes.  Of this, 164.61 gigabytes are graphics, which account for 17.61% of the total usable space.  Naturally, most of the graphics are my photography.  My originals span 122 gigabytes and there are 3 copies: one on Tera, one on the 250 gigabyte RAID-1 array on the Black Dragon, and one on the 250 gigabyte external USB-2 drive stored in a fireproof box.  My proofs span just under 14 gigs and there are 4 copies of my proofs: all of the mentioned and the Iron Dragon.

   Tazz finished proofing most of his photographs and has uploaded them to his gallery.  I've relaid out his gallery setup so that it's a little easier to work with.  The system is pretty much the layout used on DrQue.net and Tazz is working on grouping pictures together for individual galleries of his works.
